Marking hazardous goods packages and creating new hazardous goods items in Carrier Connect
Learn the three basic steps for shipping hazardous goods with Carrier Connect: Mark the package, create new hazardous goods items, and assign the hazardous goods item to a package marked as containing hazardous goods.
Begin by checking the System Description “Functional scope of the carriers offered in the standard” – under “Special characteristics” for the carrier in question – to see whether and to what extent hazardous goods shipments can be processed. Then, go the carrier configuration and activate hazardous goods handling: See Understanding and enabling hazardous goods handling with Carrier Connect.
Detailed process
- Select the carrier with which you wish to ship the hazardous goods (Package processing – Shipping orders – open existing or create new shipping order – Shipping options sheet – Carrier field group – Carrier).
- Determine the hazardous goods type in the package in which hazardous goods are to be transported (Packages and items sheet – Packages field group – open existing or create new package – Hazardous goods field group – Hazardous goods type).
- Select a Packaging type and Q-value if the carrier supports this.
- Save the package.
