Generating and printing documents
To be able to generate and print documents via Carrier Connect, you must create printers and create workstations and assign them to users in the master data.
Document printing with Carrier Connect is a two-step process:
1. Generate documents
The first step is to generate the documents and prepare them for printing. From the data of a shipping order, both the layout and the content of the document for a specific printer model are generated.
- You always use Carrier Connect to generate the documents.
- A generated document does not have to be physically printed out (immediately).
2. Print document physically
Only in the second step can the documents be physically printed out.
Printing can either be triggered via
- the user interface of Carrier Connect or
- the host system via API.
This means: Physical printing can either be done via Carrier Connect or the prepared document is returned to the host system in the API response so that it can be physically printed there.
