Printer languages
Generally, all printer languages are supported for the printer models approved by AEB.
Due to the barcode specification, we recommend the use of 203dpi printers.
Not all printer languages and resolutions are supported by all transport service providers for label preparation or label printing. For details on restrictions concerning the general use of certain printer languages, PDF printing, and printing resolutions on the part of the transport service provider, refer to the Multi-Carrier Management – Functional scope of the carriers offered in the standard System Description.
If your required printer has not been approved, AEB must first check the suitability of the printer. Submit a request in the AEB Help Center and let us know the exact printer model so that we can provide you with a non-binding quotation after a feasibility check.

Laser printers
The use of PCL6 laser printers for printing shipping labels is not recommended.
The templates for the shipping labels are suitable for printing with thermal printers only. Thus, these would have to be adapted and kept up to date for use with laser printers for you individually and for a fee.
Printer driver
Printer drivers must be installed on the clients or servers for the printers that are to be addressed from your AEB application.
NiceLabel printer drivers must be installed for thermal printers. These are available for download in the AEB Service Portal under Printer drivers.
If you do not have login data for the AEB Service Portal, submit a request in the AEB Help Center to apply for them.
Label paper
AEB recommends the following paper qualities to fulfill the transport service provider's requirements (especially concerning bar codes):
- Direct thermal printing: “Top coated” quality
- Thermal transfer printing: “Fasson MC Prime coat”or “Herma Extra coat” quality
Label size is 4 x 6 inch (101,6 x 152,4 mm). Carrier-specific 4 x 8 inch or 4 x 10 inch labels can also be used.
