Database server and database software
- The following database systems are currently supported: Oracle (11.2 – 19c), MS SQL Server (2012 – 2022) (Standard), Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere (only existing installations, version 11.0.1). For more details please refer to the Oracle Server Installation Checklist and the SQL Server Installation Checklist documents.
- Generally, versions no longer supported by the supplier are also no longer supported by AEB.
- CPU minimum Pentium 4 processor, 2 GHz
- AEB strongly recommends a dedicated database server
- The disk space requirement is dependent on the volume of data, at least 20 GB (Rule of thumb: 10,000 consignments will need approx. 200 MB of disk space).
- The main memory requirement is dependent on the number of users, the amount of transactions and the required throughput. AEB recommends a minimum of 2 GB. The main memory must be exclusively for the ASSIST4 database.
- Windows NT clusters for the database: As for ASSIST4, the database appears as a blackbox with a defined (ODBC) interface, Windows cluster solutions are generally allowed for the database. However, AEB must point out that AEB is not in a position to remedy any clusterspecific errors and cannot make any cluster-specific installations.
- Virtualization of the database server is generally possible if the performance of the virtual machine is sufficient and the database server runs on a dedicated virtual machine. The customer is responsible for licensing the database environment.
- For the access of workstations and gateways to databases, a 100 Mbit/s LAN connection with a latency below 20 ms is required.
- The database server requires a fixed IPv4 address.
Virus scanners may impact the functions of ASSIST4. Files used by the database should not be scanned on every access.
