Generic carriers
Generic carriers are not actual carriers in the strict sense, they’re a program function you can use to generate a generic shipping label, manifest, and other freight document if needed. No shipping data is shared with the carrier. Possible use cases:
- If you work regularly with various freight forwarders (through freight exchanges, for example) and manage partial and full loads, then you can use the generic carrier to generate shipping labels and required freight documents (such as CMR waybills).
- Smaller carriers often accept a generic label and do not require EDIs. A complex carrier connection is not needed – you can use a generic carrier.
