Copy configuration data via data transfer packages
If you want to copy master data from system A to system B, you can now do this comfortably and quickly as an administrator of Carrier Select with the help of so-called data transfer packages.
Using the data transfer packages, you can combine entire collections of different, even mixed, master data into one data package and transfer it with just a few clicks.
Interesting use case:
Copy master data from your test system to your production system and save yourself the trouble of typing them in, which is prone to errors.
Objects that can be copied:
In principle, you can combine all master data into one data transfer package in Carrier Select .
Of particular interest to you are probably the service allocations and supplement configurations, the configuration of which is quite complex.
Using data transfer packages:
- In your source system, select all the objects you want to copy. To do this, select the menu option Add to data transfer package in the master data, e.g. In the Service allocations. In an editor, you then either create a new data transfer package or select to which existing package the objects are to be added.
- After having added all the required objects, check the contents of the package under Administration – Tools – Data transfer packages – Data transfer package entries. Then download the package via Download package – Create file... − download. Wait for confirmation that the download is complete.
- In your target system you then import the data transfer package via Administration – Tools – Data transfer packages – Upload/import packages – select the file – Check import – Save imported data. Before importing, you can check the contents of the package, including the auto-completions, by choosing Open details.
In the Auto-completions sheet you can have dependent objects suggested.
During the import, existing data is overwritten.
